An hourly chauffeur in Silicon Valley suits a day with several meetings and end times you can't predict. You reserve a car and chauffeur for a block of hours, and they wait at each stop while you are inside. This guide covers when to book by the hour, how to plan the day and which car to choose.

When to book an hourly chauffeur in Silicon Valley

Most business days fit one of two kinds of booking.

A point-to-point transfer is a flat rate between two Bay Area addresses, fixed regardless of traffic or time of day. It suits one trip with a clear start and finish: home to the office, a hotel to a single meeting, the office to dinner.

An hourly reservation suits a day with more moving parts. Book by the hour when:

  • You have several meetings in different towns on the same day
  • You can't say when a meeting will end
  • You want the car waiting outside each building, without booking a new ride after each meeting
  • Your plans may change during the day

On an hourly reservation, the car and chauffeur stay with you for the hours you reserved. Your chauffeur waits at each stop. You can add stops, change their order or stay longer at one, and there is no cap on the number of stops on your itinerary.

Where a Silicon Valley meeting day goes

Our Silicon Valley service area covers the Peninsula and the South Bay. It includes Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Mountain View, Cupertino, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, Redwood City, San Mateo and Burlingame.

If your meetings include Sand Hill Road, the City of Menlo Park describes Sand Hill Road as one of the world's leading centers of venture capital.

Two freeways run north and south between San Francisco and San Jose: US 101 near the bay, and I-280, which runs several miles to the west. Travel time between meetings depends on traffic, so we suggest leaving room in the schedule between stops, especially when a day moves between the city and the South Bay.

How to plan your hourly day

Planning takes a few minutes. Here is how it works with us:

  1. Send us the day. Share your start time, each meeting address and time, and how many people are traveling.
  2. Get the rate and the minimum. Most hourly reservations carry a minimum that varies by vehicle class and date. Dispatch confirms the minimum and the hourly rate when you book.
  3. Meet your chauffeur at the first address. Your chauffeur arrives suited and briefed on your stops, then stays with you from there.
  4. Adjust as you go. Add a stop, reorder the afternoon or stay longer at lunch. For a bigger change, such as extra hours, call dispatch.

The hourly rate covers the vehicle, your chauffeur, fuel, tolls and waiting between stops. Gratuity is not included and is optional. If the day runs past the hours you reserved, the extra time is billed. Our reservation terms list the other changes that can affect the final charge.

Working in the car between meetings

The time between meetings can be work time. Our cars carry water, Wi-Fi and device chargers, so you can answer email, review notes or charge a phone on the way to the next address.

Our chauffeurs are suited, background-checked and trained for discretion. They handle the doors and the bags, so you can step out and walk straight into the meeting. If you plan to take calls on the road, mention it when you book.

We suggest sharing a calendar or a simple list with each address and meeting time. That gives your chauffeur and dispatch the same plan you have.

Airport legs at SFO or SJC

If your day starts or ends with a flight, we serve SFO, SJC and OAK, for arrivals and departures, with live flight tracking on airport reservations. If your flight lands early, lands late or is diverted, the pickup time moves with it.

When you land, your chauffeur parks and meets you inside the terminal, at baggage claim or in the arrivals hall, with a name board. They help with your luggage and walk you to the car. Airport arrivals include up to 45 minutes of complimentary wait, counted from when you actually land.

For the flight home, we build in the buffer to get you to the gate unhurried. Dispatch can tell you whether to book the airport legs as SFO or SJC airport transfers or as part of the hourly block.

Which car for a meeting day

Choose by the number of people and bags:

  • Luxury Sedan (Mercedes-Benz E-Class): 2 passengers, 2 bags
  • First Class (Mercedes-Benz S-Class or similar): 2 passengers, 2 bags
  • Luxury SUV (Cadillac Escalade ESV or similar): 5 passengers, 5 bags
  • Luxury Sprinter (Mercedes-Benz high-roof Sprinter van): 13 passengers in individual captain chairs, 13 bags

A sedan or First Class car suits one or two people. A team visiting several investors together fits in the SUV or the Sprinter. For a multi-city schedule with a larger team, read our guide to corporate roadshow transportation.
