What does a chauffeur do on your trip? Beyond the driving, your iBlack chauffeur comes prepared with your flight and itinerary, meets you inside the terminal with a name board, handles your bags and the doors, keeps the ride quiet so you can work, and waits with the car between your stops.

This guide follows a trip from start to finish and shows what your chauffeur does at each step.

The work starts before your chauffeur reaches you. Your chauffeur is dispatched with your flight and itinerary loaded, so the plan for the day is in hand before pickup.

For airport arrivals, we track your flight live. If you land early or late, or your flight is diverted, the pickup time moves with it, and you don't need to call us.

The car is ready too. The fleet is late-model Mercedes-Benz, Cadillac and Grech coaches, detailed before each ride.

Your chauffeur is suited, background-checked and vetted. At pickup, the first job is to find you and get you settled.

At the airport. For arrivals at SFO, OAK and SJC, your chauffeur parks and meets you inside the terminal, at baggage claim or in the arrivals hall, holding a name board. They help with your luggage and walk you to the car. If you prefer the curb, note it on the reservation. From your home, hotel or office. Your chauffeur arrives for the pickup time on your reservation. The first 5 minutes of waiting are complimentary on non-airport pickups, so plan to be ready at that time.

Either way, your chauffeur handles the bags and the doors.

Once you are in the car, the chauffeur's job is to drive and to stay out of your way. Our chauffeurs are trained for discretion. If you need to take a call, read or work, the car stays quiet.

A few practical points:

• Your route and your price. A point-to-point ride has a flat rate between any two Bay Area addresses. Traffic and time of day don't change it. Changes you make to the trip on the day, such as an extra stop, a route change or extra waiting, can change the final charge.
• Your stops. Tell us about each stop when you book, so it is on the itinerary your chauffeur carries.
• Your comfort. Water, Wi-Fi and device chargers are on board.

On an hourly charter, the car and chauffeur stay with you for the hours you reserve. Your chauffeur waits at each stop, so you can step into a meeting or a dinner and come back to the same car.

On an hourly reservation you can:

• Make as many stops as your itinerary needs
• Add a stop, change the order or stay longer at one

Fuel, tolls and the wait between stops are included in the hourly rate. Most hourly reservations carry a minimum that varies by vehicle class and date, and dispatch confirms it when you book.

Hourly service suits roadshows, board meetings and conference days, when one trip turns into several stops.

At drop-off, your chauffeur handles the doors and your bags once more. On the way to the airport, we build in the buffer to get you to the gate unhurried.
